IAN DAVENPORT

Ian Davenport is a former turner prize abstract artist whose work is normally made by pouring household paint onto his chosen surface and letting it drip down, leaving a pool of colour on the floor. While Davenport has had multiple exhibitions on his mono prints and smaller paper works, the main attention is around his site specific installations. These huge installations often look like waterfalls and gives the effect that the paint is still wet- that the dried paint gathered at the base is actually a 'pool' of paint. This gathering of paint at the base is what I like best about these paintings, the fluidity and lack of control on these sections are similar to aspects of my work.
